Obstacles for Driverless Cars

트로피이미지

Obstacles for Driverless Cars0The world’s major car manufacturers, including Ford and Audi, predict that driverless vehicles will be commercialized by 2020. However, some experts think otherwise.
The biggest issue is, of course, passengers’ safety. According to the Department of Motor Vehicles in the United States, some self-driving cars with permits to run on public roads have already been involved in accidents. This means that these cars may not be 100 percent reliable, even with their driver-safety equipment.
Obstacles for Driverless Cars2Security is another obstacle. The Guardian newspaper pointed out that the “programmed” cars are likely to be a target for hackers. Researchers have already demonstrated how someone can hack into self-driving cars’ Internet-connected systems and take control of the brakes and steering wheels.
Above all, adjusting the legal framework and insurance policies for the cars, as well as figuring out how to apply them simultaneously with those of regular cars, still remains a difficult task. As of now, it seems hard to predict exactly when self-driving cars will be on the roads.
